What happens in episode 29

Jiang Xueting is alive. Mou Linsen tells him Ye Pingjun lost her memory and was made to marry Yu Changxuan, reveals that Shang Hongwen is his man, and offers help if Jiang Xueting turns his pen on Yu Changxuan.

Kuang Bingwen and Mou Linsen plant a newspaper story: Tao Xili openly funded the Yu army while secretly arming the Wan army, the force that killed Yu Mingxuan. Yu Zhongquan locks Ye Pingjun in the ancestral shrine to atone for her father. Yu Changxuan races home, shoots off the lock and carries her out. She offers to leave; he reminds her he is her husband, the one she can always rely on.

He reopens the records of the Heishitan battle. The report says a bridge was washed out, but he remembers villagers crossing it. Yu Mingxuan's former aide, Jiang Chongyi, admits he falsified it to cover his commander's mistake. Sorting the files, Ye Pingjun suspects the truth involves Yu Changxuan himself and brings Jiang Chongyi to the family.

In his first battle, Yu Changxuan had gone off to blow up an enemy arsenal. Yu Mingxuan changed his plan to rescue him, then shielded him from a bomb. Yu Zhongquan had Yu Mingxuan carried off first; Yu Mingxuan woke on the road, went back for his brother and was killed. Yu Changxuan weeps before the tablet at the Guanyin shrine while Ye Pingjun listens outside.

Tao Ziyi finds Jiang Xueting is her arranged match. He promises to ruin Yu Changxuan fast, and she agrees to work with him.
